Keith Malone

Founder and Managing Director of Malone Architecture

I am a highly creative and approachable architect specialising in residential properties in SW London. I am passionate about turning your architectural dreams into reality by offering a personalised service to help you to create and build the perfect environment for now and the future.

As a highly qualified architect with over 20 years’ experience, I enjoy the challenge of creating bespoke environments designed to the individual needs and requirements of each of my clients. I always include my clients in the design process: listening to what they want and helping them develop a brief for their home. Every home I have designed has been bespoke, because every client, site and project is different.

I am particularly passionate about hand drawing my initial concept designs – it’s a journey of exploration and I will never stop drawing by hand for the sheer enjoyment and mindfulness of the process.

In 2009 I launched,  Malone Architecture, an award–winning RIBA Chartered Practice, located in West Wimbledon, which specialises in both large and small domestic family builds and renovations, through to larger new-build residential projects.

Do you have a project in mind? Call me to talk your ideas through. I look forward to hearing from you!

Barry  Gilhooly

Senior Architectural Technologist

Barry-Gilhooly--Malone-architecture

Barry joined the Malone Architecture team 3 years ago and is responsible for providing technical building designs to ensure everything complies with  Building  Regulations and ultimately gets approval. He studied Architectural Technology at Edinburgh Napier University and also has experience of working in the construction industry both in London and Ireland.

Barry loves being part of the Malone Architecture team and being involved in the whole design process, but especially likes working on the fine details of building projects which come together to help create beautiful buildings. His ability to visualise objects in 3D using computer-aided design (CAD) and traditional methods is crucial for preparing and presenting design proposals and bringing plans to life with  3D  models and renderings. The detailing that Barry and Keith work together to create also helps to turn the innovative designs into durable and  sustainable  constructions.

Barry’s favourite building is Glenn Murcutts Boyd Education Centre because of the relationship with its surroundings, the lightness of the clean-lined cantilever ‘sleeping blinkers’ and the anchoring of the grey concrete blending into the bush beyond.

Whilst he  relishes  working on the technical drawings, he particularly loves to see the finished buildings, especially if the project has involved using natural materials or new construction methods. He has a passion for designing and making things and for inspiration, he looks to the building itself; for him the detail is the birth of the building.

Barry  enjoys  gaining knowledge about architecture from Keith and regularly joins him for ongoing CPD learning lunchtime sessions.

He admires architect Peter Zumthor for the way he weds craftmanship and sensory experience with material, texture, light and space.

Keith has an ability to listen to issues raised on site and draw a detail under pressure which keeps things running smoothly.
