Period Home Reimagined – Conway Road, Wimbledon

We reimagined this period home by extending the 1930s detached house to the side, rear and at roof level. On the ground floor internal spaces were refurbished, and the kitchen was doubled in size to create a much-needed kitchen-dining room which could accommodate a large dining table and a kitchen island.

The floor-to-ceiling glazed rear extension bay window provides a link to circulate between the reception room and the kitchen but retains the scale of the accommodation of the original house. Glazed doors open onto a paved area for outdoor dining.  On the upper floors two new bedrooms were added and the master bedroom turned into a suite with dressing room and shower room.

Inspiration

“Architecture is really about well-being. I think that people want to feel good in a space… On the one hand it’s about shelter, but it’s also about pleasure.”
